The Roquette Foundation for Health supports the Chartreuse de Neuville Association for its project “Roots of Yesterday, Harvests of Tomorrow”
Based in a former Carthusian monastery in Montreuil-sur-Mer, in northern France, the Chartreuse de Neuville Foundation Association—a recognized organization of public interest—has been developing a pioneering heritage coworking/third-place experience in rural areas since 2008.
Inspired by the history, architecture, and location of the site, the association has set itself the mission of contributing to a more inclusive and future-confident society, in which everyone can take initiative and find their place.
In this context, and in line with the site’s history, the teams at Chartreuse de Neuville work in collaboration with a wide network of local and scientific partners. The target audiences include: schools, the general public, agricultural and community stakeholders, as well as people in social integration programs.
The “Roots of Yesterday, Harvests of Tomorrow” project, building on the Nutri’Chartreuse initiative. The aim is to make Chartreuse de Neuville a demonstration site for sustainable agriculture.
The project is organized around two main strands:
All of this is part of a pedagogical and experimental approach, strengthening the existing Nutri’Chartreuse actions focused on sustainable food.
This project responds to the need to preserve biodiversity and pass on resilient agricultural know-how, while reconnecting audiences with the challenges of sustainable agriculture and food. By highlighting the local area and its heritage, it proposes a replicable model that combines agricultural production, education, and social impact—contributing to a more inclusive and more resilient society.
