SOLHIMAL

SolHimal is a French association founded in 1988. Its mission is to provide tangible assistance to Himalayan populations living in India and Nepal. Its actions are built around four key pillars: education, housing, nutrition, and healthcare for the most underprivileged. For over 30 years, the association has worked closely with families, with deep respect for local cultures.

the project

The project aims to build 100 greenhouses for families living in high-altitude areas where the climate is not conducive to agriculture. One greenhouse is planned for an household of 5 to 10 people to meet their vegetable needs. The main goal is to extend the growing season by four months and secure the family’s food supply. A secondary goal is to sell any surplus produce at local markets in order to buy other foods that cannot be grown at altitude and to improve families’ living conditions sustainably.
