Afabal is a Spanish association of parents of individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Every year, the association supports around 75 people through its day-care program. Afabal provides daily support to families, offering moral, educational, and practical assistance to help them cope with the progression of the disease.
People with Alzheimer’s disease often experience changing behaviors around food over time. The “Healthy Eating” project aims to prevent complications related to nutrition and raise awareness among families. It includes nutrition workshops focused on “superfoods,” workshops to prevent dysphagia, and educational sessions on healthy eating for family members. This prevention program seeks to maintain the best possible quality of life for patients and support caregivers in managing their loved ones’ nutrition.
